Athens watch UlysseNardin grandly launched-‘Zheng He Bao Ship’ 鎏 gold silk enamel watch, to pay tribute to the history of Chinese navigation.
Zheng He was a famous nautical explorer of the Ming Dynasty in the early 15th century. He led a huge fleet to the west seven times. Among them, the ‘Zheng He Treasure Ship’ was the largest wooden main ship in the sailing fleet.
‘Zheng He Bao Ship’ is 137 meters long and 55 meters wide. It is equipped with 4 decks and 9 masts. It can accommodate up to 500 people and supplies required for the voyage. Zheng He sailed across Southeast Asia and even as far as the Arabian and African continents. With a fleet of hundreds, it was the largest maritime expedition at the time. During the Yongle period (AD 1405 to 1433), Zheng He led more than 30,000 crew members, completed seven missions to the West, visited 37 countries, and completed this pioneering work with a strong strategic force.
In order to accurately depict the appearance of the ‘Zheng He Treasure Ship’, the Athens watch adopts the complex and fine filigree enamel technology of Donzé Cadrans, its enamel dial professional workshop, a craft highly regarded by watchmakers and collectors. This traditional handicraft can be traced back to the beginning of the fourth century AD. Craftsmen need to use extremely fine gold wires to fix the dial to separate color blocks, and fill each block with enamel glaze. It takes great concentration and patience to make an enamel dial. Each dial needs to complete 26 procedures, and about 50 hours of professional production can be completed.
The ‘Zheng He Treasure Ship’ gilt gold silk enamel watch is equipped with an 18K rose gold case with a diameter of 40mm. It is equipped with the Swiss official observatory-certified COSC UN-815 automatic winding movement, has a 42-hour power reserve, and is water-resistant to 50 meters. The accuracy of the watch is the most proud element of every Athenian mechanical watch.
‘Zheng He Treasure Ship’ is an amazing gilt gold series enamel watch, which not only pays tribute to the glorious history of Chinese navigation, but also proves once again that the Athenian watch can not only preserve traditional technology, but also create the future of watchmaking.
